Academic Program Resource List

A few things to note before buying books/supplies:

  • Required and Recommended Resources: Not all courses have required books; in some courses, free and teacher-developed resources will be used exclusively, while in others the book will be one of several optional learning pathways. This list only includes materials that must be obtained in advance; most courses will have additional resources that students will access for free online.

  • Book Vendor and Book Format: We do not use a specific book vendor but have offered recommendations below. Feel free to explore other options but be certain that you purchase the correct edition of the text for your class. You may elect to buy or rent an eBook, hardcover edition, or used book. Click through the options and determine which is best for you. If renting, be sure to purchase access to the book for the entire duration of the course.

  • Cost: One Schoolhouse does our best to keep resource costs below $125 per course. If prices are significantly higher, please let us know. Used book prices rise as the start of school approaches, so we recommend purchasing your books as soon as possible.

  • Science Classes: Safety is our top priority, but we also highly value active learning. In science classes, you may be asked to obtain household or readily available supplies for labs. You will be given advance notice when such supplies are needed, and will also be offered simulation pathways if you can’t do the lab safely or obtain the supplies easily.

  • Tech Requirements: Review our technology requirements to ensure that your devices and internet access are adequate for an online course. Specifically note that access to high-speed internet and a computer that can run apps and simulations are required.

  • Third Party Apps: We work to minimize the use of third-party apps in our courses, but those in use are listed below on a course-by-course basis. Additionally, content is regularly curated from/on sources such as AP Classroom, YouTube, Google Suite, and Quizlet.

  • Deadline: You should have required resources in hand by the opening day of school. Please see our school calendar for the correct date. Teachers do not provide desk copies of required materials.
