ALR - New York

January 30-31, 2020

Register Now

On the one hand, independent schools are experiencing a renaissance, with academic leaders leading innovation and developing new programs. On the other hand, independent schools (as an industry) are feeling economic pressures as never before. This Academic Leaders Retreat-New York is designed to help academic leaders understand these trends in two key ways.  First, we'll explore some of the most promising innovations across the independent school community, including a look at how schools are developing advanced independent curriculum offerings that are "home grown."  Second, we'll look at the changing marketplace for independent schools and consider how we can align school finances to our missions.

And, as is customary in Academic Leaders Retreats, we'll have plenty of time talk about your top-of-mind issues in unconference sessions and over meals.

Academic Leadership Retreats Registration Fees:
  • $449 per participant from any One Schoolhouse consortium school
  • $549 per participant for all others
*Registration fee includes all workshop materials and breakfast, lunch, and dinner on Day One and breakfast and lunch on Day Two.

What Participants Say

"I feel re-energized and I am going back to my work as a department chair full of ideas and feeling supported by the conversations I had during these two days. I'm looking forward to exploring more about the concept of "instructional coaching." And, listening to presentations on change management were  very illuminating, both at a professional and personal level."

"I deepened my knowledge of school change and new models for learning and professional growth. It's great to have an opportunity to openly share this progress with each other."

Brad Rathgeber - Head of School
Brad is the Head of School & CEO of One Schoolhouse, and has worked in independent schools for more than 15 years.
Corinne Dedini - Assistant Head of School, One Schoolhouse
Corinne Dedini believes three simple truths: children need to ask lots of questions, run around in the fresh air, and be safe enough to take risks. As a little girl on a farm, this resulted in regular episodes of being hosed off before being allowed in the house for dinner. By college, Corinne was a student of science and history, a runner and rower, a person of abiding faith, an advocate for the oppressed and a voice for the trees, a voracious reader, and a world traveler. She discovered her niche in life working with high school students, a journey that has taken her to independent schools in New Jersey, Arizona, Rhode Island, and Georgia. Corinne’s expertise in tech-supported curriculum design, learner-driven pedagogy, and co-curricular program development was cultivated through her years as a science teacher, academic dean, coach, and camp counselor. Today, Corinne lives in California and works for One Schoolhouse, where she supports teaching and learning, motivates pedagogical growth, and facilitates professional development. Her work is predicated on the belief that today’s schools have a responsibility to prepare tomorrow’s workforce for a future we can only imagine.
