Summer Information for Enrolled Families

We're excited to welcome you to the Summer Academic Program at One Schoolhouse. From our founding, we've focused on creating online courses that bring the long-held independent school values of connection, creativity, and inquiry into the online learning space. Our administrators are experienced educators, here to support students and families.

This page is designed to give you the resources you need to ensure a successful start to the course. Begin by watching our family orientation videos below, which provide a program overview, information about practices and policies, a snapshot of typical course cadence, and much more. Learn our top three tips for supporting students in an online course, and discover more resources for parents and guardians on our website. • No extensions: Plan ahead and communicate early if conflicts are coming

  • Work ahead if needed: Teachers can open assignments early with advance notice

  • Late work penalty: 10% deduction after grading (some work may not qualify)

  • Hard cutoff: No credit after the grading period ends

  • Grading system: Designed for consistency across our 270+ partner schools

  • Turnaround time: Teachers grade and give feedback within 5 school days

  • Where to see grades: Students check assignment grades in the LMS anytime

  • Term grades: Numeric, unweighted, plus narrative feedback (no letter grades)

  • Final grade: Average of Term 1 and Term 2 (50% + 50%)

  • Reports & transcripts: Sent to schools; families may need to forward if school is not in the consortium

  • Exam logistics: AP exams are in-person only and must be scheduled through an approved testing site (often the student’s school)

  • Registration responsibility: One Schoolhouse does not register or proctor AP exams

  • Study support: Students can revisit course materials anytime and email instructors with questions

  • AP Classroom access: Students are enrolled in College Board AP Classroom after the course begins

  • AP Computer Science Principles note: Create Task is completed during the summer course as a draft, then revised and submitted later through AP Classroom
