Entrepreneurship is a rapidly growing and exciting area of business that provides innovative solutions to the world’s most pressing problems. Through case studies, videos, podcasts, and group projects, students develop an understanding of how entrepreneurs use business models to create products and services that maximize social impact. Students examine successful mission-driven entrepreneurs who have created businesses (both for profit and nonprofit) that address social, economic, and environmental challenges. Students reflect on their own entrepreneurial qualities as they learn how to think strategically about global issues and how to affect change. Using the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals as a foundation, students select an issue they want to investigate. In their capstone project, students put their new entrepreneurial skills into practice by researching and proposing a potential solution to the grand challenge they have identified. The primary objective of this course is to equip students with the skills and approaches to navigate and be change agents in a rapidly changing and complex world.
