Course Overview

AP® Business with Personal Finance is an introductory college-level course designed for students interested in business careers, entrepreneurship, or developing essential financial literacy skills. The goal of the course is to help students understand how businesses operate in society and to develop the knowledge and competencies needed to make informed financial decisions throughout their lives. Students explore entrepreneurship, marketing, finance, accounting, management, budgeting, credit management, saving, and investing. Throughout the year, students engage authentically with course content through entrepreneurial projects, simulated work-based experiences, and collaborative business planning activities. Students work in teams to develop comprehensive business plans and simulate the role of a financial adviser for households with varying income levels and goals. By the end of this course, students will be able to analyze business models, evaluate financial strategies, apply business principles to real-world scenarios, and make evidence-based financial decisions. This course prepares students for the AP® Business with Personal Finance exam in the spring and provides the opportunity to earn an employer-endorsed credential.

“I feel like I've definitely taken quite a bit away from this semester of macroeconomics, both directly from the course content and its application in classwork, and in terms of the things I hear or learn about the economy in the world at large.
