Differential Equations
Girls Only & All Genders Course, Full Year Course
Prerequisite - Successful completion of AP® Calculus BC or equivalent
Course Overview
This year-long course teaches students how to identify and solve a variety of types of ordinary differential equations, including first-order separable, exact, linear, and Bernoulli, as well as second- and higher-order linear differential equations. It covers solution techniques including integrating factors, series solutions, Laplace transforms, and graphical solutions. It also introduces partial derivatives and partial differential equations. The course emphasizes visualization of solutions and the use of differential equations to model systems from science and engineering. Students develop proficiency in translating physical situations into mathematical equations, solving them, and interpreting their solutions in applied contexts.
“I’m learning a lot of new topics that I never thought about. Some of the topics are logical thinking, which is going to help me generally in life because not everything is a math problem where you have to solve for X.”
