WASHINGTON, D.C. – February 7, 2022 – One Schoolhouse is proud to announce the formation of the Association for Academic Leaders, an organization designed to support academic administrators in independent schools. “This is an important moment for independent school Academic Leaders,” said Brad Rathgeber, Head of School for One Schoolhouse. “Academic Leaders need a champion and One Schoolhouse is uniquely positioned to lead in this way.” Early on in the COVID-19 pandemic, One Schoolhouse created courses, webinars, materials, and communications to support Academic Leaders who were tasked with managing enormous changes. Over time, these resources shifted to encompass the wide range of responsibilities and skills that Academic Leaders manage each day. The Association provides a structure to support these resources that Academic Leaders have come to value and rely upon and ensure they remain a part of the community. “I am truly delighted to be a part of this historical expansion of One Schoolhouse’s support of independent schools,” said James Palmieri, Ed. D, and One Schoolhouse Board Chair. “This Association is designed to connect, educate, equip and empower its membership for the benefit of independent schools across the country and around the globe.” Naa-Adei Kotey, the Chair of the Strategic Planning Committee of the One Schoolhouse Board and Academic Dean at St. Paul's School for Girls, shared her thoughts. “Wouldn't it be empowering to not be alone, but to have other thought leaders as part of a community? Academic Leaders deserve the community, connections, and resources the Association provides.” Membership in the Association for Academic Leaders is now open to all schools. Preview access to online learning and community resources is included for schools who join the Association before the official launch on July 1, 2022. About One Schoolhouse – Since 2009, One Schoolhouse has been a partner to independent schools that envisions and embodies what’s next in education, online learning, and professional development. During the COVID-19 pandemic, One Schoolhouse provided resources and education to educators and Academic Leaders from more than 1000 schools.
